Norwest Player Profile - Chloe Bellamy
The first in our series of player profiles so you can get to meet some of our members that make our club so special.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU PLAYED FOR NORWEST UNITED?
I have been playing at Norwest for five years (since 2015). At this time I was 13 years old.
LAST YEAR YOU MADE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS REPRESENTATIVE TEAM THAT LOST IN THE FINAL OF THE WOMEN'S NATIONAL LEAGUE. HOW DID YOU FIND THAT EXPERIENCE AND WHAT VALUABLE LESSONS DID YOU TAKE FROM IT?
Playing for the Northern Lights was an incredible experience for me. I have always aspired to play in top league football since I was very young so making this team meant a lot. Playing football alongside players that I had looked up to for a long time was awesome. Travelling with the team to Christchurch for the final against Pride was a very surreal experience. A valuable lesson that I took away from this was that hard work really does pay off. I had worked hard for a very long time and was finally given an opportunity to take my football to the next level. At the beginning I was just a member of the Lights training squad, then I was asked to be a part of the playing squad and gradually got more game time as the season went on which was a very proud moment for me.
WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL GOALS FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON?
My goal for this season is to overcome my current injury. After that I would love to make it back into the Northern Lights team.
My goals for the Norwest women's team is to win the league and move up into the premier league.
WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLAYER TO WATCH AND WHY?
Honestly any of the players in the Northern Lights team. Every one of them showed me a whole new level of football and playing with them pushed me to play better too. Their level of focus at training was amazing.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE NORWEST UNITED MEMORY?
My favourite memory with Norwest is playing in the under 17s tournament at Western Springs in 2019. We ended up winning the plate of the competition which was a cool experience.
